Woodi’s heart beats for the Finnish nature. In pure nature, in well-managed forests, trees are allowed to grow healthy and become established to the dimensions of the log, one year and growth ring at a time. Nature gives us back what we give it – even in the scale of the earth and the atmosphere.

Protecting the cleanliness of the earth, air and water is part of everything we do: every choice and decision, every day. We are happy to do our part for the benefit of nature and for future generations: precisely those who, now and in the years to come, will be using the benches, beds and desks made by Woodi.

Today, all regulations and obligations related to sustainable development and environmental protection are written into laws, directives and certificates to which we are firmly committed. We also demand the same from our partners. By acting together responsibly and aiming for a shared goal, we will ensure sustainable development for the common good of all!

1. Our main raw material is healthy solid wood – a genuine, renewable, recyclable and naturally degradable organic material. At the end of a long life cycle, wooden furniture and its parts can be recycled for new uses or utilized for heating.
2. he wood we use has grown in responsibly managed forests. Monitoring the chain of origin of the wood ensures that the forest has been managed in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.
3. There is also another important issue related to the procurement of raw mate- rials: our goal is to reduce transport emissions by streamlining purchasing. In order to reduce transport emissions, we have expanded our installer network to cover the whole of Finland: we want the installer’s journey to the customer to be as short as possible.
4. The wood-based boards, adhesives, surface treatments, plastics and upholstery we use in our furniture meet all the regulations set for them. For example, the M1 rating of adhesives indicates that no harmful gases evaporate into the room air. In addition, the metal parts of our furniture, such as screws and hinges, are made of solid steel or aluminum, which can be recycled as is.
5. Our upholstery fabrics are also first-class durable and safe public space fabrics. We mostly use lightweight and strong polyester, which requires little water to make. The fabrics are highly resistant to abrasion and natural light and remain beautiful from year to year. There are no harmful or prohibited substances in the fabrics. Cleaning is also environmentally friendly, as stains are usually easily swept away.
6. We work from design onwards at all stages of the work to reduce waste mate- rial. Packaging materials in both incoming and outgoing cargo are also fully recyclable. We sort the various wastes into their own containers, from where they are properly delivered for recycling. We avoid harming the environment and natural resources, and we demand the same from all our partners.
7. Improving energy efficiency, as well as all the above-mentioned issues related to safety and material efficiency, are subject to continuous development for us. We have written numerical goals and timelines into Woodis environmental strategy – we work actively every day to achieve them.
